Photographs from the solo exhibition at Thoughtworks

We had the opening reception this past Thursday for my show of paintings at Thoughtworks in New York City, up now through August 29.  The show looks great! Thanks to everyone for coming out.  I've uploaded a selection of photographs of the exhibition to my flickr photostream.  A few of which are included here:

Thoughtworks Opening is this Thursday

The previously announced show at the New York Offices of Thoughtworks is now up. We put up the show this past Friday, and it looks great! Below are a few pics of the artwork waiting for the movers at my studio, then in the process of hanging.

The opening reception is this Thursday, June 27, from 6 to 8 pm.  Location: Thoughtworks in New York, 99 Madison Avenue, 15th Floor.  This is at the corner of Madison and 29th Street.

If you're in town this Thursday, please stop by and we'll have a grand time!

Studio dispatches: latest behind the scenes news

I've been busily preparing for the upcoming Thoughtworks Exhibition (and the studio has become woefully cramped with all the prep work going on), but am continuing to work on new pieces.  This past week, I finished another mountain landscape, which I am tentatively titling Paysage plan├ętaire (Brenta 2).  A preliminary photo of the painting, still wet on the easel is below:

(Brenta 1 is pictured here.)  These paintings are inspired by my recent trip to Italy, and also by the stupendous mountain landscapes of Swiss artist Ferdinand Hodler (1853-1918).  The "Brenta" in question is a range in the Dolomite Alps -- the Grupo di Brenta in Trentino.  While completing Brenta 2, a process that took 2-3 hours, I also experimented with Vine: the Twitter owned video app that makes creating stop-motion video a snap (almost).  Here is my nearly first attempt at Vine;  Rather shaky, but very interesting.  A lot of possibilities here, don't you think?

I'm also continuing with my "Lifeworlds" series (more on the ideas behind that sometime soon).  Here are a few 'in progress' shots to contemplate:

Announcing an exhibition of paintings at Thoughtworks

I'm pleased to announce a solo exhibition of my paintings at the New York offices of Thoughtworks, a software consulting firm with offices worldwide.  The show will be up from June 21 through August 29, and the opening reception will be on Thursday, June 27 from 6 to 8 pm.

Thoughworks is located at 99 Madison Avenue, near 29th Street, on the 15th floor, in Manhattan.

In this exhibition I am bringing together a selection of my work dating from 2010 to the present, including several new pieces never before exhibited.  Featured are abstracted landscapes and tree portraits influenced by musings on city living, nature and the meaning of it all. Also included is one painting from my “Calamus” series -- paintings inspired by the poetry of Walt Whitman.

So, I hope you will join me Thursday June 27 from 6 to 8!  Don't hesitate to contact  me with any questions.
