Word of the day

Perhaps it should be the word of the week, or even year:

quagmire, noun.

According to dictionary.com:

"1. an area of miry or boggy ground whose surface yields under the tread; a bog." Think quicksand, or a swamp impossible to traverse.

"2. a situation from which extrication is very difficult:" for example, Vietnam, or Iraq.

"3. anything soft or flabby."
