A word of the day and some science trivia:
Today(July 5th) at 5:00 Universal Coordinated Time, the Earth is(was) the farthest it will ever be from the Sun. Luckily, the laws of physics require that we are now moving in for a closer, more cozy flyby, as we do every year.
Earth's orbit is not circular, but elliptical. We can thank Johannes Kepler for that insight.
The word, then, is aphelion: that point in the Earth's orbit when it is farthest from the Sun.
I hope everyone is having a fabulous aphelion-day.
