The Park Slope Courier (March 15, 2004) recently reported this bizarre bit of criminal ingenuity:
"A local watering hole was burglarized when a tunnel rat burrowed his way into the bar last week, officials said.
"A bartender at Long Tan, 196 5th Avenue, said that he had closed the bar at 3:40 a.m. on February 28. The following morning, employees discovered that someone had broken inside, taking $1200 in cases [of beer? booze?] and seven bottles of vodka ...
"Police said the burglar actually entered 194 5th Avenue and broke through an adjoining wall between the hallway and the bar."
