Botanical oddities: a few pics from the NYBG

Spring break is over and I'm back down in the coal mine. But I still have digital pics from my recent visit to the NYBG. While they wouldn't let me take photos of the orchids, I was permitted to digitize the non-orchidaceae denizens of the greenhouse. (Stupid rules.) Here are a few odd vines that were just hanging about (Sorry. Couldn't resist that one.)

This one's a bean! It's a member of the Legume family. Strongylodon macrobotrys, aka the 'judevine,' from the Philippines.

    Thunbergia mysorensis, from Mysore, India.

This one's freaky! The flowers were growing out of the trunk of the vine, down by the ground (and all over). It's an Aristolochia leuconeura, from Colombia.

I hope you enjoy!
